“How Reclaiming My Style ReIgnited My Soul”

I did’t know how much of myself I had lost until I stood in a fitting room with a pile of clothes and had no idea what I even liked anymore. After 7 years in a relationship that dimmed my light, I wasn’t afraid of fashion… I was disconnected from me. But something nudged me to start exploring again. One trip to the mall turned into a portal… not just into clothes but into creativity, movement and freedom. That moment birthed a fitness journey, a content rebirth and this blog you’re reading now.

I didn’t realize how much of myself I had lost… until I caught a glimpse of her in a dressing room mirror.

Although a size too small… this dress lit my fire 🔥
Followed by these “Good American” jeans… which were too good!

For 7 years, I was in a relationship that made me shrink. I don’t even think I noticed it at first. Little by little, I stopped dressing up, stopped caring about what made me feel beautiful, stopped showing up in my full essence. And when you stop showing up for yourself, you start fading. Quietly, slowly, and then all at once.

Recently, something shifted. It wasn’t a grand epiphany. It was a whisper. A little nudge from God, from my spirit, from that part of me that’s still alive under all the dust.

So I went to the mall. I didn’t plan to buy anything… I just wanted to try on some clothes and see what happened. I was curious. And sis… that small act cracked something open.

In those fitting rooms, I saw parts of myself I hadn’t seen in years. Not just my body…my creativity, my power, my sauce. There was something sacred about looking at my reflection and liking who was staring back. It was the first time in a long time I didn’t feel like I had to hide. And for me, that was everything.

I started filming clips for my vlog that day, and without even trying, content started to pour out of me. Ideas. Confidence. Flow. I wasn’t performing…I was remembering. And it lit a fire.

This moment didn’t just awaken my style…it awakened my life. It reminded me that healing isn’t always deep shadow work or big breakdowns. Sometimes it’s as simple as putting on a pair of jeans and saying, “I like this.”

That’s when I decided I was done wearing my old ‘uniform’…the black leggings and hoodie that had become my armor. I’m not in hiding anymore.

This was my survival fit… I wore this like it was a uniform… but it really was a reflection of how I’d been moving through life: safe, hidden and on autopilot. That season is over!

That day led me back to movement, to taking care of my body again, and eventually… to creating this blog.

This space was birthed from that fitting room mirror moment. From the tears I’ve cried, the prayers I’ve whispered, and the bold decision to try again.

If you’re reading this and you’ve felt invisible…even to yourself…I want you to know it’s never too late to come back home to you.
